My personal interest in British cars has led my business into the reproduction, refinishing, re-veneering, and finishing of vintage Jaguar, Triumph, Rolls Royce, Land Rover, Morgan, Lotus, TVR, Hillman, and Austin Healey interior wood.

From a modest start re-veneering a Series 1 XJ6 dash for a friend and refinishing the wood in my own 1985 XJS, we began receiving requests for Jaguar, Triumph, MG, and Austin Healey wood as people saw our work. As we already had a complete cabinet making facility, with CNC router capabilities, a veneer press, and spray booth, etc., about 15 yrs ago we decided to reproduce Jaguar, Triumph, MG, and Austin Healey interior wood on a commercial basis. This is not a mass produced product, I personally buy and lay the veneers for each dash. Now, 15 years later, we believe we are the largest manufacturer of vintage automoblie wood in the world, with over 400 dashes in stock and the largest selection of exotic woods and burls, and most importantly, the best prices in the world.

Our products and services for these items fall into 5 categories:

1) New, reproduced wood: We now stock new, reproduced dash wood and interior wood ( dashboards, etc. ) for Jaguar xk-150, XJS, Jaguar XKE , Jaguar XJ6 series 1-3, Jaguar MK 2, Triumph TR2, TR2A, TR3, TR3A, TR3B, MK 1-3, GT6, TR4A, TR6 69 -76, TR250, Stag and Spitfire, Austin Healey, Austin bugeye and Mini,  MGA, MGTC and MGTD, and Morgan. These dashboards are reproduced from originals we purchased, so the overall fit and holes match. We also pre-fit the glove box doors, and paint all dashes the correct color brown paint on the back, edges, and even in the gauge recesses, if that's how they came from the factory.

2) Refinished or re-veneered original wood: Jaguar XJS dash and door wood, XJ6 door wood, and Jaguar XK40 door and dash wood ( 88 and newer XJ6 )

3) Re-veneering and finishing metal parts, like XJS and XJ6 shifter ( ski slopes ) and trip computer surrounds.

4) Stripping, veneering, and finishing of your original wood. Time frame is normally 1-2 months from receipt to delivery, depending on the amount of work involved.

5) Custom dashes for any car, all we need is a templete. We recently completed a tr-6 dash with Auto-meter gauges, and a cd player, in walnut burl.

Woods and burls: in the past, we had typically used what is correct for the car, rosewood and walnut for Triumph, walnut burl for Jaguar, but in the last few years, we introduced other exotic woods and burls, as buyers preferances had changed. More people were upgrading their cars from a plain sliced wood, to an exotic wood or burl.  We also started using a block mottle Makore burl that color co-ordinates with Victoria British steering wheels. In the case of the Rolls Royce wood above, the customer did not want a dark burl, but instead preferred a light yellow/orange tone. Our challenge was matching his entire set, which consisted of matching original door wood and mirror surrounds to the new veneered dash. Our solution was Carpathian elm burl for the dash, with dyes to color coordinate the entire set, finished in a block sanded hi gloss catylized finish.

As i am sure that you have noticed, there is no way to purchase a dash from this website. That's because every wood and burl is different. As a car guy myself, i would not want to buy from a generic picture on a website, and get something very different from what i was looking at. Please call us at 203-846-4168, 7 am to 4 pm, e.s.t., or email us at cgwoodcraft@aol.com for more pictures and information. Be sure to send the make, model, and year of your car. Our prices are reasonable and fair, our workmanship is top quality, and in stock items ship within 3 days. There is a refundable core charge on category 2 and 3 items. i will email you an actual picture of the actual dash you are buying, with serial #, not a generic picture.
